The Mark McKenzie Quartet is a Dallas-based jazz group that strives to create music that is both authentic and accessible -- firmly rooted in the mainstream of jazz tradition, and also appealing to a wide audience.
With McKenzie on saxophones, George Gagliardi on piano and guitar, Raylan Loggins on bass, and Jon Hock on drums, the band presents straight-ahead, acoustic, small-group jazz with a tasteful, melodic sensibility. The result is music that creates an elegant ambience, but also rewards close listeners.
These four musicians joined forces in late 2007, and have set about building a repertoire of standards from the Great American Songbook, as well as jazz standards and lesser-known jazz tunes. The band is also proud to feature original compositions from the pen of pianist/guitarist Gagliardi, a veteran songwriter and performer.
The MMQ plays for private parties, corporate events, restaurants, or any live music setting.
