The Mark McKenzie Quartet is a Dallas-based jazz group that strives to create music that is both authentic and accessible -- firmly rooted in the mainstream of jazz tradition, yet appealing to a wide audience.
With McKenzie on saxophones, George Gagliardi on piano and guitar, Raylan Loggins on bass, and Jon Hock on drums, the band presents straight-ahead, acoustic, small-group jazz with a tasteful, melodic sensibility. The result is music that creates an elegant ambience to be sure, but also rewards those who listen intently.
These four musicians joined forces in late 2007, and have set about building a repertoire of standards from the Great American Songbook, as well as jazz standards and lesser-known jazz tunes. The band is also proud to feature original compositions from the pen of pianist/guitarist Gagliardi, a veteran songwriter and performer.
The MMQ plays for private parties, corporate events, restaurants, or any live music setting.
