The Mark McKenzie Quartet is a Dallas-based jazz group with an authentic, accessible sound — rooted in the mainstream of jazz tradition while appealing to a wide audience. With a lineup including saxophone, piano (or guitar), bass and drums, the band plays straight-ahead acoustic jazz with a tasteful, melodic sensibility. Their music lends itself to a relaxed, elegant ambience, but also rewards closer listening.
The group’s repertoire consists of standards from the Great American Songbook as well as classic and contemporary jazz. The band also features original compositions from George Gagliardi, a veteran songwriter and performer who is the group’s regular pianist.
The MMQ maintains an active schedule in local venues, and is available for corporate events, private parties, wedding receptions, restaurants, nightclubs, or any live music setting. Trio and duo configurations are available for smaller events or smaller budgets.
